Overnight Weight Loss Tricks
Your weight can fluctuate from the time you wake up in the morning to the time you go to sleep depending on what you eat, how much you eat and whether or not you exercised during the day. Though you can't magically shed countless pounds overnight, establishing good eating habits, drinking plenty of water and exercising regularly will help you lose weight in realistic increments over the long term.
Avoid Irregular Eating
Irregular eating throughout the day is more likely to lead to weight gain than night time eating. A 2000 study in the Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise looked at the eating habits of 62 female college athletes. Some of the women were runners and some were elite-level gymnasts. Researchers discovered that when both sets of female athletes ate sporadically throughout the day, creating a large energy deficit, they were more likely to have a higher percentage of body fat compared to the women who ate more regularly.
Skip the Large Dinner
Though there is no concrete research to indicate eating past a certain time at night will make you gain weight, it's best to avoid eating a large dinner. Our bodies actually slow down in the evening, meaning calories you consume near the end of the day are more likely to be stored rather than used up. You can easily avoid eating a large dinner by eating your largest meal at lunch. Or stave off nighttime hunger by incorporating protein-rich snacks in between your meals throughout the day.
Detox Your Body
Instead of relying on supplements to help you trim unwanted pounds, aim for a simple method that naturally cleanses your body of impurities, toxins, fats and mucous that can plug up your system. For example, apple cider vinegar detoxifies certain organs in your body and acts as a purifier that breaks down fats and mucous deposits in the body. It also helps maintain health and the proper functioning of organs like the kidneys, liver and lungs.
Drink Lots of Water
In order to lose weight you need to drink lots of water. Drinking water curbs hunger, flushes your system of harmful toxins and enhances your metabolism. Try a warm glass of water with a teaspoon each of ginger juice, lime and honey first thing in the morning which will clear toxins built-up in your body. Avoid sugary drinks, carbonated beverages and caffeine that bloat and dehydrate you, especially closer to bedtime.
Exercise Regularly
Exercising is the key to staying fit, trim and healthy. If you're looking to shed weight quickly try high-intensity aerobic activities such as running, swimming, and cycling. Exercising at night if you don't have time in the morning also won't interfere with your sleep. One study from the University of California at San Diego actually showed that three hours of pedaling at 70 percent of maximum oxygen uptake in bright lights did not prevent fit men from falling and staying asleep.
