"What I plan on every day when I work out is this Hint Water with a kick," said Berry, who showed off a bottle of the apple and pear flavor. "You need water to stay hydrated, and Hint has caffeine in it, but it's a natural caffeine," she said. "And I drink three to four of these every workout."
Caffeine water is exactly what it sounds like - water with caffeine in it. Berry's favorite variety describes itself as a "great coffee alternative without sugar or diet sweeteners." However, Hint caffeine water contains less caffeine and more H20 than a regular cup of joe. (It contains 60 milligrams per 16 fluid ounces while an average eight-ounce cup of coffee contains 95 milligrams of caffeine.)
Since Berry drinks three to four of the flat or fizzy drinks in one workout, her grand total for caffeine comes to at least 240 milligrams (still less than the daily recommended max of 400 milligrams). And there are numerous studies that show even a single dose of caffeine can improve exercise performance, burn more fat and increase focus.
In addition, caffeine water is a much healthier alternative to sugar-filled energy drinks and sodas which the actress confesses she has a craving for. "I have a soda tooth," she said in the same #PHITTALK. "I like diet coke sometimes."
It's not just her caffeinated water that fuels her intense workouts; she also follows the controversial keto diet. Berry swears by the very low-carb, high-fat diet to not only maintain her lean frame but to help control her type 2 diabetes as well.
"The keto lifestyle offers so many benefits, such as weight loss (moms, that's how we get rid of our baby bellies), appetite control, more energy and better mental performance," she wrote on her Instagram. "If you're like me, you can possibly reverse Type 2 diabetes, you'll experience better physical endurance, better skin and also less acne (if that's an issue). And it even helps control migraines!"

The actress knows that what she eats plays a huge part in how she performs during sweat sessions with her trainer Peter Lee Thomas. "I think it's safe to say @peterleethomas and I are on a nutrition mission," she said during her #PHITTalk. In Berry's case, this means a kitchen detox where all things sugary and generally bad for her are put under lock and key.
"I keep them locked up, so we don't have access to them," she said. "It's more of a mindful decision to get them out." Still, Berry believes you should still be able to treat yourself from time to time and says she occasionally sneaks carbs into her dinner and even wine isn't off limits. "Moderation is key," she said.
It certainly looks as though she has the balance right!
