How to Keep Hamburgers Warm in a Crock-Pot

Crock-Pot is the brand name of the original slow cooker. It uses a ceramic bowl kept at moderate heating temperatures to cook dishes over a long period of time. Crock-Pots are widely used for meals such as stews, soups and vegetable dishes. You can also use the Crock-Pot to keep meat warm and at a safe temperature. If you cooked hamburgers that aren't ready to be eaten, use your Crock-Pot to keep them heated at 140 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer.

    Step 1

Cook the hamburgers to the desired level of rare, medium or well-done. Internal temperatures must be 140 Fahrenheit for rare, up to 160 Fahrenheit for medium and 170 Fahrenheit for well-done.

    Step 2

Transfer cooked hamburgers to the Crock-Pot.

    Step 3

Cover the Crock-Pot with the manufacturer's supplied glass cover.

    Step 4

Turn your Crock-Pot on the warm setting. Crock-Pots have a warm, low and high setting. The temperature of the warm setting keeps food at the designated 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The other two settings are for cooking and result in a slow simmer of food.

    Things You'll Need

    • Crock-Pot cover

    • Oven-safe bowl

    • Water

    Tip

Hamburgers will still cook slightly and dry out at the warm setting. If you plan on keeping the meat in the Crock-Pot for more than an hour, set an oven-safe bowl at the bottom of the Crock-Pot with water to keep the hamburgers moist with steam.

    Warning

Older models don't have a "warm" setting. Placing the hamburgers on low will still cook them, so don't rely on this method for extended periods of holding the hamburgers.
