Calories From 16 Ounces of Coke

Coke and other carbonated colas are deeply embedded in American culture. You can buy a cola at almost any employee break room, convenience store or restaurant. Although colas are popular, they're also high in calories and devoid of helpful nutrients.

    Calories

A 12-oz. can of regular Coke contains 140 calories, according to the Coca-Cola website, so a 16-oz. glass would contain about 187 calories. That's almost 10 percent of the total calorie allotment for someone who eats 2,000 calories per day.

    Carbohydrate, Fat and Protein

A 12-oz. Coke can has 39 g of carbohydrate. Therefore, in a 16-oz. serving of Coke you'd get 52 g of carbohydrate. All the carbohydrate is from sugars. Coke contains no dietary fiber, fat or protein.

    Ingredients

Coke is essentially carbonated water that is sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup. Caramel color, phosphoric acid, natural flavors and caffeine are also added. A 16-oz. serving of Coke has about 45 mg of caffeine.
