How Many Calories Are in Sangria Wine?
Sangria, a mix of wine and fruit that may also contain other alcohols and fruit juice, varies in calories based on the recipe used. Larger servings and drinks made with a higher alcohol content have more calories than those containing more fruit juice and less alcohol. Keep in mind that drinking also lowers your inhibitions, making you more likely to eat and drink more calories than you would otherwise.

A 4-ounce serving of a typical sangria made with red wine, brandy or orange liqueur, and fruit contains about 115 calories. Adding fruit juice and sugar results in a drink containing about 260 calories per 8-ounce glass. Use lemon-lime soda instead of sugar and add some triple sec and your 8-ounce drink will have about 285 calories. A 6-ounce glass of sangria will have about 256 calories if you switch the lemon-lime soda for club soda and add lemon juice. Trade the red wine for white Zinfandel and add a bit of sugar for a 4-ounce serving that features 94 calories. For a really low-calorie sangria, mix a diet lemon drink and artificial sweetener, along with white wine, club soda, lemon and lime juice. In this case, a 4-ounce sangria has just 40 calories.
