History
Hoegaarden beer was first made in Hoegaarden, Belgium, in 1318. It takes nine steps to make this beer, from malting and milling the grains to fermenting and then re-fermentation, over the course of about one month to produce the final product. Hoegaarden is unfiltered, which explains its cloudy appearance and also its nickname of "white" beer or "witbier."
Fun Fact
Hoegaarden is traditionally served in a hexagon-shaped glass, which reduces the surface of the glass that your hand actually touches, preventing heat transfer and preserving the beer's coldness.
