How to Get Rid of Open Pores After Waxing

Waxing is a form of hair removal that removes hair directly from the follicle instead of cutting it at the skin's surface with a shaver. This type of hair removal offers the benefit of living hair-free for several weeks after the procedure. Waxing causes slight trauma to the skin, which can result in irritation. It also opens the pores, leaving the skin in the affected area at risk for infection. Closing the pores in the affected area will reduce this risk.

    Step 1

Wrap two to three ice cubes in a paper towel. Place the ice cubes in a plastic bag.

    Step 2

Seal the plastic bag to prevent water spillage as the ice melts. Lay the plastic bag of ice on your skin immediately after waxing.

    Step 3

Leave the bag of ice in place for 20 seconds, moving it to a new location afterward. Continue the process of icing your skin in 20-second intervals for 5 to 10 minutes.

    Things You'll Need

    • Ice cubes

    • Paper towel

    • Plastic bag

    Tip

If you do not have ice readily available, opt for a cool shower. Allow the cool water to run over your waxed skin, calming it and closing your pores.

    Warning

Never apply ice directly to your skin. Allowing the ice to lie on your skin without a layer of protection between the two can damage skin.
