How to Get Rid of Dry Pimples

Acne is caused by a hormonal increase that stimulates your oil glands to produce more oil than normal, according to the website Acne.org. This over-production of oil clogs your pores and creates a pimple filled with sebum. If you squeeze your pimples, you run the risk of introducing bacteria and infecting your skin. If your pimple is already dry, resist the temptation to scratch off the top layer that is a scab. By applying a step-by-step treatment regimen you can get rid of your dry pimples at home.

    Step 1

Fill a large pot with filtered water and bring it to a boil, then remove from heat and place the pot on a surface that is low enough for you to bend over it while seated. Protect your surface with a towel if you think the pot may leave a burn mark, such as on wood.

    Step 2

Wrap a large towel around your head in order to keep any hair from coming in contact with your face. Rinse your skin with warm water to remove excess debris from your daily routine.

    Step 3

Add a couple drops of tea tree essential oil to your hot water. Bend over to let the steam rising from the pot hit your skin. If you want, you can use a second towel to create a tent-like effect so that the steam is enclosed and you get more of it on your skin inside the towel.

    Step 4

Use a mixture of one tablespoon of sea salt and one teaspoon of honey to create a nourishing exfoliating scrub. Gently apply it with circular motions to your entire face and neck.

    Step 5

Rinse your face off with warm water and pat dry with a soft washcloth.

    Step 6

Use a non-oily moisturizer that will help your skin remain nourished and hydrated and will prevent further dryness.

    Things You'll Need

    • Large pot

    • Large towel

    • Tea tree oil

    • Soft washcloth

    • Oil-free moisturizer

    Tip

Consult your dermatologist before using products on your skin if you are already under treatment for your pimples.

Tea tree oil has antimicrobial and antibacterial qualities that helps reduce present and future infections according to acupuncturist David Crow in his book "The Pharmacy of Flowers."

    Warning

Resist the temptation to scrub hard. You want to remove your dry pimples without causing irritations that will make them bleed or become infected.
