Dermatologist Recommended Moisturizing Lotions
Dermatologists specialize in caring for the skin, so it makes sense to consider the products they recommend for skin care. Moisturizing lotions may contain humectants to help draw moisture to the skin and emollients for soothing. There are a variety of moisturizing lotions available designed for use on the body, face, hands and feet.
Cetaphil
The University of Kansas Medical Center Department of Dermatology recommends Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for face and body moisturizing for people with sensitive skin. Dermatologist Arielle Kauvar, M.D., recommends Cetaphil Therapeutic Hand Cream to prevent chapping to individuals who must frequently wash their hands. Cetaphil products are often recommended by dermatologists and pediatricians.
Lubriderm
Dermatologist Jessica J. Krant, M.D., recommends Lubriderm moisturizers, as do a number of other dermatologists. Lubriderm, a line of moisturizing products for skin that ranges from normal to extremely dry, was developed by dermatologists working for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company.
CeraVe
Dermatologists recommend CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for skin that is dry and itchy. They also recommend CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for some patients using prescription medications for their skin.
Aveeno
Dermatologist Arielle Kauvar, M.D., recommends Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 and Aveeno Stress Relief Moisturizing Lotion. Aveeno boasts the Mayo Clinic as one of its earliest customers, with the clinic having purchased its soothing bath treatment as early as 1945.
Eucerin
Eucerin Original Lotion is recommended by dermatologists for very dry skin, especially for patients whose skin may be compromised such as patients with diabetes. Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Lotion is recommended for dry, flaky skin. Eucerin also makes Aquaphor Healing Ointment, often recommended for skin care for patients undergoing radiation treatment.
